2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Coupe 2-Door Description

The name "ZL1" carries a lot of weight around the GM history books, so this 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 needed to stand up and earn its badge the right way. Fortunately, GM delivered in a big way, starting with a 580 horsepower LSA V8 borrowed from the late, great ZR1 Corvette, plus the suspension and brakes to put it to good use. Oh, and we should mention that this one is like new with only 3936 original miles on the clock. This was Chevy's take-no-prisoners Camaro and it's impressive on every single level. Born to be hammered at the track, this one seems to have bucked its roots and instead lived an easy life with a single owner in Oklahoma, who seemed to prefer driving it to work on sunny days and taking it to car shows. As a result, it looks virtually new, with hardly a mark on the gleaming Summit White bodywork. The ZL1 looks like no other Camaro, with a functional air-extractor hood, a deep chin spoiler, side skirts, and a few other aero tweaks designed to make its 180+ MPH top speed a little less harrowing. Exceptionally clean, we can find very few nits to pick on what is obviously a very well-kept performance car.The interior was likewise redesigned and upgraded for more power and speed, starting with deeply bolstered bucket seats with suede inserts that grab you like Velcro. ZL1 embroidery makes this one stand out, just in case nobody noticed the bodywork, the badges, or the exhaust note, and there's a seriously beefy steering wheel with proper thumb notches at 10 and 2. Red stitching lends it a racy look, too, and you'll note there are throwback design cues everywhere, including auxiliary gauges down on the center console. Of course, it's still plenty comfortable to drive and everything was standard on Chevy's top-of-the-line F-body, including A/C, cruise control, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, and a pretty impressive stereo system with touch screen and navigation. No, you won't feel like this is some bare-bones race car. There's a reasonable back seat and even the trunk offers proper storage and a cargo net, just in case.At its heart is a 6.2 liter supercharged LSA V8, which is descended from the infamous LS1. Virtually bulletproof and designed to lap the track for hours on end, it's seriously over-built. These are easy to modify, but this one remains completely stock, and even at that, it's terrifyingly fast. Nail the loud pedal at any speed and the ZL1 lunges forward like it's hungry, with a soft supercharger whine coming from up front and a baritone bellow from the oversized pipes out back. The only transmission you want is a 6-speed manual and the car will pull to 140 MPH with two gears to spare, which should give you some idea of just how fast this insane Camaro really is. The suspension was designed with the track in mind, so you get a fully independent setup fore and aft with a lowered ride height, stiffer springs and shocks, and a set of gigantic roll bars fore and aft. Massive disc brakes are part of the package, which provide fade-free performance lap after lap, and the forged alloy wheels wear giant 285/35/20 front and 305/35/20 rear Goodyear Eagle F1 rubber, which is pretty close to a racing slick for the street.Complete with the window sticker and manuals, this is a like-new ZL1 for a significant discount compared to the $70-some thousand dollars they're asking for a new one.
